Performed by the theatre company,
West Side Story is the first musical to be held at the theatre in 15 years. The company has scouted talent from all over the Midlands, under the direction of Dexter Whitehead and choreographer Anna Forster (9 Productions, MYK, WBOS and Stourbridge).

George Stuart from Birmingham Conservatoire, takes on the role of Tony. He most recently played Karl in WBOS's Ghost The Musical, Marine in MYK's Dogfight and Melchior Gabor in WBOS's Spring Awakening.

Maria is played by
Phebe Jackson (The Grange and Sutton Arts), Maison Kelley plays Riff, he was most recently Subway Ghost in WBOS's Ghost The Musical, Eddie Birdlace in MYK's Dogfight and Peter in Bilston Operatic Company's Peter Pan.

This exciting and moving adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet follows the 'Jets', an American gang, and their rivals, the Puerto Rican 'Sharks' in their intense rivalry for command of the streets of 1950s New York.. Amidst their conflict, love endures when Tony meets Maria. As the young lovers yearn to escape the opposition that surrounds them it soon escalates to a point of no return, with a climatic and tragic finale.

Come and experience this multi-award winning musical, with a memorable composition from the legendary Leonard Bernstein. In a heart wrenching story of racial and emotional conflict, who will take control of the streets of New York?

Thank you for promoting our production of West Side Story, please note that the part of Maria is being played by Phebe Jackson (not Bruton). Also it is not a new theatre company it is Sutton Arts Theatre, the first musical in 15years.

Hi there Emily,

Apologies for this. It must have just been a mistake in the information we were initially sent though. Both these alterations have been made now.

With best wishes,
