The Witches Of Eastwick Set To Leave Stafford Spellbound

3/4/2015

It’s almost show time for Stafford & District Operatic Society, as they prepare to debut the spellbinding hit musical The Witches of Eastwick in Stafford this April.

The cast have just 2 weeks until opening night, and with only a handful of rehearsals left they are working hard to bring a little bit of magic to the local stage.

Will Wood, who plays the part of the charming Darryl Van Horne, says:
“The Witches of Eastwick is extremely exciting to be a part of, and we’re looking forward to bringing something new to the audiences of Stafford. It’s quite different to all the shows which we have performed in the past – quite tongue-in-cheek, and colourful – but it’s very funny and rehearsals are looking and sounding better than ever. This will definitely be a night out to remember.”

Based on the 1987 film featuring Jack Nicholson, and following the recent smash-hit touring production starring Marti Pellow, the story follows three disgruntled singletons who - bored with small-town life - wish for the one thing guaranteed to shake them out of their current funk: the perfect man. All hell breaks loose, literally, when the arrival of devilish Darryl sets tongues wagging and hearts racing. His wicked ways throw the town into chaos the ladies are forced to consider whether they should have been more careful for what they wished for…

Catherine McDonald, Publicity Officer for Stafford & District Operatic Society says:
“This is a very exciting time for us, as not only are we bringing this show to a Stafford audience for the very first time, but together with our sponsors at the Lewis Partnership we’re now offering a complete package: pre-theatre drinks and dining available at The Swan and The Bear Grill, and a great night out supporting local performers at the much-loved Stafford Gatehouse Theatre.

There has been a fantastic variety of shows on offer of late – lots of comedy, and alternative entertainment like cabaret and burlesque. The Witches of Eastwick is going to be the same professional standard that people are used to from our company, but with that extra 'something' that appeals to a much broader audience. We know this show is going to be an absolute hit – if you’ve never tried a musical before, this is definitely a great place to start!”

Stafford & District Operatic Society’s The Witches of Eastwick will be at Stafford Gatehouse Theatre from Tuesday 14 to Saturday 18 April. Tickets start from just £12.50 and you can book now by clicking here, or by calling the ticket hotline on 07817 215 420.

Tickets are also available from Stafford Gatehouse Theatre. For pre-show dining and drinks enquiries contact The Swan Hotel on 01785 258 142 or The Bear Grill on 01785 244 020.
