After months of hard work Lichfield Operatic Society’s cast are hoping to be performing to a full house at the Lichfield Garrick with ticket sales currently at over 90% still with 4 weeks to go!
A spokesperson for the company said: “We have never known ticket sales like it and are forever grateful to our audience members, both new and regular, for supporting our society. It is their continuing support that has allowed us to perform for the last 72 years and hopefully for many more years to come. We hope they all enjoy watching ‘The Full Monty’ as much as we have enjoyed every minute rehearsing for it.” Based on the hit British comedy about 6 Sheffield men who set out to outdo the Chippendale dancers by doing “the Full Monty”, this Americanised musical stage version carries the same combination of grit and laughs that worked so well in the film. Lichfield Operatic Society’s production follows 6 steelworkers down on their luck facing their fears, self-consciousness, and anxieties and finding that the camaraderie of their mates gets them past all those inner demons. Local actor and family man Phil Bourne will be taking on the lead role of Jerry Lukowski in the October production, however this won’t be his first time performing in The Full Monty. In 2008 Phil played the part of ‘Fat Dave’ in Sutton Coldfield Musical Theatre Company’s production, he said; “I can’t believe how blessed I am to be in the show again playing the part of Jerry, my first principle part with Lichfield Operatic Society (however the diet is a killer!!). I have had such a laugh working with the cast and everyone in the company and it’s a privilege to be on stage with them. I couldn’t be butt naked on stage with a better bunch of people – I hope you all enjoy this incredible production as much as we had making it for you.” Performances of the show will run at the Lichfield Garrick from Tuesday 13 to Saturday 17 October. Tickets start from £15. To book click here or call the Lichfield Garrick box office on 01543 412121.
