Running until 12 September, Sutton Arts Theatre present the utterly hilarious Michael Frayn play, Noises Off.
Described as "the funniest farce ever written" , Noises Off is a play within a play. Following the story of an ambitious director and his troupe of mediocre actors, delight in an evening of glorious madness. The cast and crew are putting together a silly sex comedy titled, Nothing On - a single-set farce in which lovers frolic, doors slam, clothes are tossed away, and embarrassing hi-jinks ensue. As tempers flare, backstage passions are also alight with clandestine affairs, jealousies and thwarted ambitions melting in a crucible of exhaustion and first-night nerves. Things have not improved when the touring production reaches Goole, and by the time the shattered company reach Stockton-on-Tees, it is not only the sardines that are disintegrating.
