Aspiring young performers are being urged to make sure they take up their opportunity to star in Stafford Gatehouse Theatre’s Summer School production of The Wizard of Oz.
The iconic musical features favourite songs including; Over The Rainbow, Munchkinland (Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead), If I Only Had A Brain, If I Only Had A Heart, If I Only Had The Nerve, We're Off To See The Wizard (Follow The Yellow Brick Road) and many more that the whole family will be singing along to. Auditions are now just four weeks away and are the only way to gain a place in the show. Places are available for youngsters aged between 7 and 21 who live in or attend a school in Staffordshire. Previous years have seen up to 150 children battle it out for one of the lucky spaces in recent productions, which have included Doctor Dolittle, Whistle Down the Wind and Peter Pan. Auditions are on Sunday 17 May at Stafford Gatehouse Theatre. The first session is at 9.30am for 7-12 year olds, followed by a session at 2pm for 13 – 21 year olds. Summer School will start on Monday 20 July, with the production opening on Wednesday 5 August and running until Saturday 8 August. All candidates must be available for the entirety of Summer School.
