Rugby Theatre is on the hunt for a host of talented individuals to join them on their next exciting project, Sunset Boulevard. Auditions are taking place on Thursday 25 June, 7.30pm with a fantastic variety of roles on offer.
Sunset Boulevard weaves a magnificent tale of faded glory and unfulfilled ambition. Silent movie star Norma Desmond longs for a return to the big screen, having been discarded by tinsel town with the advent of ‘talkies.’ Her glamour has faded in all but her mind. When she meets struggling Hollywood screenwriter Joe Gillis in dramatic circumstances, their subsequent passionate and volatile relationship leads to an unforeseen and tragic conclusion. Based on the Billy Wilder film, the musical version of Sunset Boulevard has music by Andrew Lloyd-Webber and lyrics by Christopher Hampton and Don Black. It had its world premiere at London’s Adelphi Theatre on 12 July, 1993. There are parts for actors, singers and dancers. The ensemble will be very busy on this production, and everyone will be playing a range of cameo roles. There is something for everyone, so for more information click here to download the various resource packs and audition sign-up form. Auditions will take place on Thursday 25 June, 7.30pm at Rugby Theatre Central Hall (see map below) and the show is being performed from 10 to 17 October.
