Performers Join Together For This Enchanted Evening To Raise Over £20,000 In Memory Of Solihull Theatre Company Founder, Chris Macrow

23/1/2016

A group of performers hope to raise £20,000 for charity by holding a concert in memory of Solihull Theatre Company’s founder and former chairman Chris Macrow.

Chris, who co-founded Solihull Theatre Company with his wife Sarah and best friends Pauline and Steve Dyer in 1992, tragically died in September 2014 after a cycling accident and with the support of family, colleagues and friends his widow Sarah has already raised £27,000 for charity in his memory.

Now Sarah, Solihull Theatre Company and Chris’ friends are coming together to perform a memorial concert called This Enchanted Evening, at Solihull Arts Complex on 13 and 14 February, to raise another £20,000 for charity.

The concert will feature a chorus of more than 50 of Chris’ friends and family singing his favourite songs from stage and screen. There will also be a number of solos and duets from professional singers.

Sarah said:
“We are so excited ahead of what is set to be a fantastic show.
Chris had a passion for musicals and many of the songs in the concert were either performed by Chris or are his favourites from musicals including Les Miserables, Billy Elliot, My Fair Lady, Half a Sixpence, Jekyll & Hyde, Chicago, Miss Saigon and many more, so this will be a fitting tribute to him.

“We all still struggle to believe that Chris is no longer with us. He was an inspiration to many and the support we have received when we announced we were going to do this has been overwhelming with individuals and companies already sponsoring us for thousands of pounds. This sponsorship has enabled us to cover the costs of the concert which means that the proceeds from every ticket sold will go straight to charity. Furthermore, St. James’s Place Wealth Management will match pound for pound all money raised on the night.

“This is going to be a wonderful night and we are so lucky to have so many talented and professional singers involved. We’d love to see as many people come to enjoy the show as possible and raise money for good causes in the process.”

The money raised will go to St James’s Place Foundation, Get A-Head and FAITEC: charities which support the children’s hospice movement, children with disabilities, people with head and neck cancer and help to research facial implant prosthesis.

This Enchanted Evening will be performed on the evenings of Saturday 13 February and Sunday 14 February at Solihull Arts Complex. For tickets visit www.solihullartscomplex.co.uk or call the box office on 0121 704 6962.
