Old Joint Stock Theatre To Celebrate The Life Of Jonathan Larson With Rent And Tick, Tick...BOOM!20/1/2016 Jonathan Larson is, quite rightly, hailed as one of the pioneers of the 'modern musical' and The Old Joint Stock Theatre in Birmingham is proud to produce both of his published works over the week which will mark the 20th anniversary of his passing.
Opening on Saturday 23 January 2016, tick, tick…BOOM! runs for 7 performances, closing on Saturday 30 January, and RENT – Performed in Concert will take place on Sunday 24 & Monday 25 January. Casting for tick, tick…BOOM! includes Joshua Dowen in the role of Jon (credits include: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Edinburgh Fringe & UK tour); Cool Rider (Lyric Theatre & Duchess Theatre); Dogfight (Southwark Playhouse & St James Theatre), Jessica Singer as Susan (credits include: Date 1-10 (Landor Theatre); The Olivier Awards (2013 & 2014, Royal Opera House); Kerry Ellis at the London Palladium (London Palladium); High Society (Old Vic – Workshop); Guy Fawkes: A New Musical, M.A.D.) and Rhys Owen as Michael (credits include: Leonard, The Life of Stuff (Theatre 503); Dracula (Leicester Square Theatre); Jack and the Beanstalk (Buxton Opera House); Get That Beat (Tristan Bates Theatre); The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (UK Tour). The Old Joint Stock Musical Theatre Company will be revisiting RENT which they performed in 2013, as a tribute to Larson. This will be in the style of a concert performance on 24 & 25 January – 20 years to the day it opened Off-Broadway. A donation will be made to an AIDS charity in Larson’s memory. For more information and to book tickets visit Old Joint Stock Theatre's website here. All tickets £15 – call the box office on 0121 200 0946 for details of a discount when booking both productions!
