NODA Award-winning theatre company, Backstreet, return this May with a brand new show – the Stephen Sondheim musical - Into the Woods.
The Staffordshire-based group, who won the National Operatic and Dramatic Association Regional Award for their production of Jekyll and Hyde in 2013, have yet again taken a risk with their upcoming show. Following the release of the Disney film, Backstreet are thrilled to bring Into the Woods to the Prince of Wales Centre in May. This show has never been performed at the theatre before and Prince of Wales staff and management are very excited to see it take to the stage. Into the Woods is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, that intertwines the plots of our favourite well known stories. It explores the consequences of the characters wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel - all tied together by an original story involving a Baker and his Wife, their wish to have a child and a Witch who has put a curse on them. Caroline Wilson, founder member of Backstreet, says: “This is a show we have always wanted to do, so with the film's release this year, we felt it was the ideal time. The show is so much fun, and it's great to put our own twist to it - we will tell you all the bits that Disney didn't! We are thrilled that tickets are selling so well with 2 months still to go." The show is set to be a great night out for everyone, so let Backstreet take you on a journey - Into the Woods. Into the Woods is playing at the Prince of Wales Centre, Cannock (see map below) from 28 to 30 May and tickets are £12. To book, click here or call the Prince of Wales on 01543 578762.
