Millie Taps Into Town8/5/2016 Aldridge Musical Comedy Society are in final preparations for their production of Thoroughly Modern Millie, an energetic love story set in New York in the jazz age of the 1920’s.
The story follows the journey of Millie Dilmount in her quest to find a husband, through prospects rather than love. This huge part has been taken on by Chloe Hancox who has been with AMCS for 2 years and she has thrown herself into the role. She has previously played Mary in their production of Jesus Christ Superstar in November 2014. The talented cast have been working hard for 5 months to bring this to the stage next week. The vibrant principal characters will have you hooked from the very beginning of the show, with varied chorus numbers, from 1920’s nightclubs to tap dancing in wheely chairs, there's a lot to do for a relatively small cast, but, as always, they have all pulled together to accomplish what will be an amazing show. The musical harmonies are precise and impressive throughout and the dancing is high energy but still keeping the distinct style of the 1920’s. Both production team and cast have had a fabulous time rehearsing such a funny show and the audience are in for a real treat. There are still a few tickets left for the show which is on at the Prince of Wales, Theatre, Cannock from 19 - 21 May. Tickets available on 01543 480626 and priced between £8-13. A spokesperson for the group says: “AMCS are such a friendly, enthusiastic company who always approach everything with a positive attitude. They work hard to push themselves and strive to give the best performance they possibly can..” Next year AMCS are celebrating their 50th anniversary and are starting the celebrations with a pantomime in November this year and then West Side Story next May.
