Birmingham Youth Theatre is looking for new members aged 9 - 18 to join the company on Sunday 5 July for their upcoming production of Cinderella, which will be staged at The Old Rep from 12 to 14 November.
This classic rags to riches story sees Cinderella transformed from a maid to her horrid Ugly Sisters, to the belle of the ball, with the help of her Fairy Godmother. Expect riotous pantomime dames, energetic song and dance numbers, magic, and bags of audience participation. This is a show perfect for the whole family. Birmingham Youth Theatre exists to teach young people aged 9 - 18 performance-driven, practical musical theatre skills, and provide the opportunity to perform in a professionally produced shows in a real theatre environment. Students are taught to act, sing and dance, as well as stage craft. They also learn about lighting, sound and stage management. The company have spent over 25 years nurturing the creative talents of future generations of performers and creative professionals. If you are aged between 9 and 18 then auditions take pace every Sunday throughout July, starting on Sunday 5 July at West House School, Edgbaston (see map below). Auditions are from 10am to 12pm and auditionees are asked to sing a song of their choice, either with a backing track or singing a cappella.
