Selly Oak based group, The Arcadians, will be presenting the Birmingham Amateur Premiere of Sister Act in May at the Crescent Theatre, so we caught up with their Deloris Van Cartier, Nicole Appleby.

LMT: So The Arcadians are presenting the Birmingham Amateur Premiere of Sister Act The Musical, how does that feel?

NA: It feels exciting and I really can't wait just to perform it now.

LMT: What makes Sister Act so different to previous musicals you have performed?

NA: The thing that makes it so different is that each character has a backstory, how they arrived in the convent. As an audience member you can let your imagination go wild as to what happened. Also, the fact that it is such a joyful and soulful musical, it just makes you smile and forget about everything.

LMT: What has the rehearsal process been like?

NA: It's been a lot of hard work, going over routines to make them perfect for the show, but it has also been great fun.

LMT: Have you got a favourite part or song in the show?

NA: Oh my, yes! My favourite part of the show is Raise Your Voice. It uses so much energy and once we hit that last beat I have so much adrenaline pumping through my body I could run a marathon!

LMT: What can the audience expect from the show?

NA: They can expect a lot of laughter and a lot of emotion. They can just let go of their problems and become part of the show, experiencing everything along with the sisters.

The Arcadians production of Sister Act runs from 5 to 9 May at the Crescent Theatre. Tickets are between £15 and £18 and you can click here to book, or call the Crescent Theatre box office on 0121 643 5858.
